Project Overview

A citywide mobility app built for the people who actually live in Herzliya. The user picks an origin and a destination, chooses a primary mode, and — where it helps — a transfer point. The app splits the trip into clean segments and returns routes, times, availability and accessibility for each one, with live updates on the way.

  • Client: Herzliya Municipality — Innovation, Mobility & Sustainable Transportation Division, together with the Systemic Planning Department.
  • UIDB scope: requirements specification (PRD), UX strategy, UX/UI design, front-end development of the app and its back office, and project management including coordination of the municipality's other appointed contractors.
  • Delivery model: a three-month plan to beta, three payment milestones, MVP1 followed by MVP2, and a bi-weekly development forum with every stakeholder in the room.
  • Modes covered: bus, train and light rail, municipal shuttles, shared bikes and scooters, car-share, ride-share, walking and parking.
  • Audiences: residents first — alongside visitors, businesses, suppliers and municipal staff.

Goal

Give every resident one clear, personal way to reach a destination — and by doing that, move real trips onto sustainable modes and raise civic engagement in the city.

Problem

Mobility information is scattered across operators and apps. Nobody can compare time, cost, accessibility and availability across modes in one place, and the data that does exist is incomplete: docking points move, new stations appear, provider feeds disagree, and mapping licences restrict what may be stored.

Solution

A map-first experience that consolidates every mode, learns preferences gradually instead of interrogating the user, and breaks each trip into segments around a transfer point the user controls. Real-time data, event awareness and push alerts for service disruptions keep the trip honest while it is happening.

What we delivered

  • Requirements specification and MVP1 / MVP2 scoping, agreed with the municipality module by module.
  • UX strategy and full UX/UI design in Figma, approved by the client before a line of production code was written.
  • Front-end development: onboarding, authentication, permissions, home screen, search and results, event screens, bookmarks, multimodal navigation flow and live updates.
  • Back-office screens for municipal staff.
  • Integration against the back-end and transport-data services, including API contracts, Swagger / JSON schema agreements and a dummy-API phase so front-end work never waited on back-end readiness.
  • Project management: work plan, milestones, bi-weekly development forum, written summaries and decisions, and coordination of the municipality's other appointed contractors.
